About Us

The Akron-Princeville Fire Protection District has provided fire suppression and emergency services since 1899. At that time, APFD was known as Princeville Fire Company No. 1. In 1945, we officially became a Fire Protection District updating our name to from Princeville Fire Company No. 1 to  Akron-Princeville Fire Protection District. We have evolved from an organization focused solely on firefighting to one that leads the way in first response to emergency incidents. APFD is deeply involved in the community it serves.

Today, the Fire Department is composed of 26 volunteer firefighters. We operate out of 1 station and currently have a fleet consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Brush Trucks, 1 Rescue, and 1 Tender.

We look forward to the many challenges ahead as we continue to set the example and embrace change as a means in which to continually assess its performance and seek improvement.
